Paint thinner dedcated for blue and red line of Hataka paints. Can be also used for thinning similar paints of other brands.
Thinner is a basic and necessary product for painting with any type of paints - both for paintbrushing and airbrushing.
Proper thinner decreases the paint's viscosity and density allowing it to pass through the airbrush nozzle or its more uniform distribution with a brush. Always choose right thinner for the paint you use - in most cases the best and safest option is to use the paint's brand thinner. This way we surely will not alter or worsen the paint characteristics. There are three main types of model paints - oil enamels that can be thinned with a white spirit, terpentine or odourless thinner, waterbased acrylics that can be thinned with water or alcohol and paints with an organic solvent base, which require dedicated products to thin. For paintbrushing it's usually needed to add only a small amount of thinner to make the paint a little less viscous. For airbrushing paints need to be thinned much more - in a ratio of at least 3:1 (3 parts thinner to 1 part paint). In this case the most important thing is to keep the paint in a consistency of a skimmed milk.
Hataka is a Polish manufacturer of high quality modelling paints and a wide range of colours.
Their offer consists of three lines of paints:
- Blue Line are water soluble acrylic paints that are optimized for painting using a paintbrush. They are sold in 10 and 17ml bottles.
- Red Line are also water soluble acrylic paints but optimized for spraying using an airbrush. For best results we recommend thinning them with a dedicated thinner rather than water. They are packed in 17 ml bottles.
- Final type are the Orange Line paints - lacquer type, based on organic solvents therefore water cannot thin them. They can be thinned with a dedicated Hataka thinner or other lacquer thinner (e.g. Mr Hobby Levelling Thinner). Those paints can be easily used in an airbrush and cannot be painted with a brush. They come in 17 ml bottles.
Hataka has a very wide range of colours that consider the modellers’ needs, which makes it easy to choose proper colour for a particular AFV or an aircraft from virtually any time period. Their offer is complemented by a wide selection of paint sets that are focused on particular subjects like e.g. German tanks of early WWII or Swedish Air Force. Those paint sets are also divided by paint types (blue, red and orange).
